Andrew's Ringing Page

I was taught to ring in 1973 at Braintree in Essex by my parents.

My first quarter peal was in 1977 at Rayne and my first peal in 1979 for the centenary of the Essex Association.

In 1977 we changed tower and took over Rayne which is a 6cwt 6 and taught a band to ring as there was no ringing there since the World War 2.

I started to ring on twelve at Chelmsford Cathedral in the early eighties and have rung over 30 quarter peals on the bells.

In 1989 I moved to Norwich and rung at St Peter Mancroft until 1990 when I move to Royston in Hertfordshire and started to ring at Great St Mary's, Cambridge.

My home tower is Meldreth but help out at many more including Duxford and Ickelton.

I was invited to join the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths in 1992.

In 1993 I managed to organise the first peal for The Zipper Society at Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire.

I have been the society Secretary for about 5 years.

I called my first peal for my wedding to Claire and the 90th birthday of my grandmother in 1995 of Yorkshire Surprise Major at Burwell, Cambridgeshire.

I have now rung  486 quarter peals of which I have called 173. 300 of the 1/peals have been in Cambridgeshire.

333 quarter peals have been published in the Ringing World.

I have rung 229 peal of which I have called 70 of them.

My leading tower for peals is Meldreth with 71 peals on the bells of which I have called 18 and circled the tower once.

My leading association is Ely D A with 143 followed by Essex with 20

I called the first peal at Toft, Cambridgeshire in November 2004 and called the first peal on the newly augmented bells at Linton, Cambridgeshire.

It is a pleasure to call first peals for ringers. The current total is 11 with Claire ringing her first for her dad's 60th birthday
